We have taken our best selling 12" bandsaw and improved it by adding lots of new features !
To ensure comfortable cutting, even in timber 160mm deep, we have upgraded the quiet induction motor to 750w (1hp). The cast iron work table is now 15% larger to allow bigger cuts using the rip fence. To make adjusting the table angle a simpler and more accurate operation we now use a geared adjustment so that the angle is set by simply turning a handle. A preset stop ensures it will always return to 90 degrees again.
The ripping guide fence has also been redesigned to incorporate a quick action lock with an easy to read metric scale. The fence can be used on either the left or right hand side of the blade. The sub fence is used to allow very small cuts in thin timber to be made without obstructing the blade guide.
The sliding mitre guide is cast metal with an adjustable fence. It can be locked in at any angle within a 120 degree range. More importantly it has preset stops for 45 degrees each way and when returning to the standard 90 degree position. Two T-slots machined in to the table allow the mitre guide to be used on the left or right hand side of the blade.
The key to getting accurate straight cuts on any bandsaw is correct blade tension and setting the guides. To speed up blade changing the W721 now has a quick action blade tensioning sytem, as found on industrial machines. A simple lever adjustment takes the tension off the blade for easy removal. When retensioning a new blade the lever is moved back to the tensioned position. An adjuster on top of the saw can still be used for fine tuning the tension.
The upper blade guide is attached to the end of the adjustable guard. The new design uses a set of sealed bearings which run against the blade to ensure it stays true during a cut. When you want to cut curves the guides are simply backed off, no tools required. A further bearing runs behind the blade to keep it in position as the cut is made.
A simple adjustment of the drive belt lowers the blade speed for anyone wishing to cut metals, plastics and very hard woods.
Supplied with floorstand with rubber feet, quick action rip fence, sliding mitre guide, 1/2" width blade, NVR switch, 100mm diameter extraction outlet, cable and plug.
