Deliveries to most areas are sent on a next working day service (does not include Saturdays, Sundays & Bank Holidays) In more remote areas and offshore addresses a next day service may not be available and we will use an economy service which may take up to 5 working days. All deliveries must be signed for.
We will attempt to despatch all orders received before 3pm that same day. Orders placed outside of normal office hours or at weekends will be despatched on the next working day. For example if you place your order on Saturday, we will normally deliver it on the following Tuesday.
Delivery costs are automatically calculated during the online ordering process. All deliveries are charged according to weight and destination. When ordering online it is the customers responsibilty to ensure they have selected the correct delivery area from our list. In cases where the wrong area is selected, we may have to refuse the order or contact you for an additional payment.
When ordering heavier items, where the total weight is over 40kg, you will need to consider whether a tail lift vehicle is required. The delivery will be made by one driver who will usually help you unload the goods but cannot unload heavy items without assistance. Please ensure there is somebody available to help unloading or request delivery on a tail lift vehicle. We make a small surcharge for this service as we need to use a specialist vehicle.
If your address is difficult to find, it may be helpful to provide us with some additional instructions using the space provided during the online checkout process. For example you can request the delivery to be made on a particular day that suits you. Unfortunately we cannot offer any timed deliveries, our carriers operate between 8am and 6pm. If you have to leave the delivery address on the day you are expecting a delivery please make alternate arrangements with a neighbour and leave a note on your door. If nobody is there when our carrier calls they will leave a card with a reference number and a telephone number of the local depot. You can then call them to re-arrange the delivery. Please note that Charnwood will get charged for every failed delivery attempt plus the re-delivery and your co-operation is greatly appreciated to minimise such charges.
Charnwood offers a delivery service via independent carriers. It is the recipients responsibility to check that the number of parcels is correct and that they are in satisfactory condition before signing the carriers consignment note.
Any problems must be noted on the carriers consignment note. Once the carriers note is signed, goods are accepted as received in good condition and Charnwood cannot accept any claims. If there is any discrepancy, the statement 'received in good condition' must be deleted. To sign the note 'unchecked' is not recognised by the carriers, their insurers or ourselves. Claims for transit damage or short deliveries must also be notified in writing to Charnwood within 7 days of receiving the goods, responsibility will not be accepted for claims of non delivered or damaged goods after this time.
If your delivery address is within the Republic of Ireland and you are a VAT registered business, you will be able to buy without the application of VAT, if you provide us with your VAT number.
If you live in the Channel Islands you are exempt from VAT.
In either of these cases you will need to contact our sales office directly to place an order.
We cannot currently deliver outside of the British Isles. Any overseas customers are invited to arrange there own transport and collect goods directly from our warehouse. We can provide information about packing sizes and weights as required.
